Course Description

English Communicative vs English Language & Literature

Here is a comparative study about the two subjects offered by CBSE and NCERT in CBSE schools in India and outside India.

Curriculum designed by CBSE Curriculum designed by NCERT
Mostly followed by KVs and Private Schools Mostly followed by government schools
Considered difficult syllabus as compared to English language and literature but actually both have same syllabus in terms of Reading, Writing and Grammar. Considered easy syllabus as compared to English Communicative but in reality, it has more chapters as compare to English Communicative and all other sections are common.
Two novels to study in addition to literature book and main course book. Same novels here but CBSE as discontinued them this year (2018-19) onwards. So, it is now a bit easy.
There was a main course book. However no direct question was asked from MCB in exam. No main course book but NCERT is preparing one this year.

NCERT Text books for English Language and Literature

NCERT has two text books in class 9th English Language and Literature. English Reader named as BEEHIVE and Supplementary Reader as MOMENTS.  The text book Beehive has 11 lessons and 10 poems. Supplementary book Moments has 10 lessons. Here is the list of lessons in both the books
